Smoke seen within the Ramona space as we speak, Dec. 14, is from a prescribed burn Cal Hearth and California State Park officers are conducting at Cuyamaca Rancho State Park.
“A prescribed burn on Center Peak shall be seen to nearly all of San Diego County residents, and I need to guarantee the general public that this joint company effort is being deliberate and managed in coordination with Cal Hearth. We’ll have hearth educated personnel on-website, around the clock taking care of it,” stated State Parks Superintendent Kevin Greatest.
The burn is in preparation for planting roughly 30,000 native conifer seedlings this winter. The continued actions are half of a bigger reforestation effort aimed toward restoring the combined conifer forest, ninety five % of which was devastated by the 2003 Cedar Hearth.
