Douglas Phillips, a baking and pastry instructor from Ayer, Massachusetts, was crowned the Season 5 winner of the Food Network’s “Holiday Baking Championship” Monday night time.

Phillips sealed the deal by making a wine field-formed cake with a Christmas tree surprise inside. The victory earned him $25,000.

The competition started final month with 10 bakers from across the country. That group was trimmed to 3 for the season finale.

The opposite finalists have been Sarah Lucia Tafur, a home bakery proprietor from Miami, Fla., and Lerome Campbell, a pastry chef from Naples, Fla.
