A tender second unfolded between a gaggle of youngsters in Atlanta and a mounted patrol officer this week as the youngsters broke into music, serenading the officer with an enthusiastic rendition of Atlanta native Lil Nas X’s hit music “Previous City Street.”
Atlanta Police Department Mounted Commander Lt. Greg Lyon happened upon the youngsters at Grant Park while out on patrol on the town’s east aspect. The youngsters, who have been swimming within the public pool, danced and sang to Lyon and his horse via the fence. Lyon shot video on his telephone and ultimately joined in.
“Because of the youngsters for cheering us on. We’re going to journey ’til we will not no more!” the police division stated in an Instagram submit in a reference to the music’s lyrics.
The wildly in style nation-rap music evokes cowboy imagery, with Lil Nas X singing as he prepares to “take my horse to the previous town street.” In an interview with the New York Occasions, Lil Nas X stated he wrote the track to mirror uncertainty about his future after he dropped out of school.
“I felt like a loner cowboy,” he advised the paper. “I needed to take my horse to the Previous Town Street and run away. The horse is sort of a automotive. The Previous Town Street, it’s like a path to achievement. In the first verse, I pack up, able to go.”
Regardless of early controversy about how Billboard would classify the track, “Previous City Street” has gone on to grow to be a chart-topper since its December 2018 launch. A remix that includes Billy Ray Cyrus is #1 on Billboard’s Scorching one hundred and Prime Hip-Hop/R&B Songs charts.
