Michigan House approves A-F letter grades for public schools

Michigan would create a letter-grading system to guage public faculties underneath laws that has narrowly advanced within the state’s Republican-controlled Legislature.

The House voted fifty six-53 for the bill early Thursday throughout a marathon lame-duck session. The measure moves to the Senate for consideration next week.

The state Division of Schooling can be tasked with giving each faculty a grade in a number of areas. However there can be no general single grade for a faculty.

The Republican sponsor says Michigan needs a “kick in the pants” to enhance schooling, whereas Democratic critics say the invoice would do “nothing” to assist college students or academics.
