Overseas Ministry spokesman Lu Kang stated Thursday that entrepreneur Michael Spavor and former Canadian diplomat Michael Kovrig have been taken into custody on Monday.

Lu says Canada has been informed of the detentions, however declined to say whether or not the lads have been supplied with legal professionals. He says they are being dealt with separately.
